Dear Law Enforcement Partner:

Starting Monday, April 24, Virginia DMV will begin issuing newly designed driver’s license and ID cards. The current design has been in place since 2009. It’s an industry best practice to redesign credentials every 10 to 15 years.

While the new credentials will display some of the same features, they will incorporate the next generation of enhanced security features that are resistant to counterfeiting yet easily authenticated by law enforcement.

DMV’s Workforce Development Division has created a confidential e-Learning for our law enforcement partners that highlights the credentials’ security features. The training will be accessible through Virginia Learning Center (for state agencies), agency and regional criminal justice training academies, and here on the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police’s (VACP) online learning platform. To access the training, please click “Login to Enroll” above and use your existing credentials for this site or register for an account. The course will be listed under “My Courses” under your account.

Thank you for sharing this information within your agency/department.

Sincerely,

Joseph Hill
